Being what is expected as a Muslim in a foreign country.

Assalamualaikum.

For your information, recently, I had passed my A-Levels and had been given the wonderful opportunity of furthering my studies abroad.
This is actually my second week in New Zealand.

So, I think I would like to share something today.

One of the things that amaze me, being in a foreign country, is how different the 'racist' issue is, opposing to the way the media had been portraying it.

Instead of being judgemental and mean, non-Muslims are actually curious as to why we're wearing a hijab, as an example. They aren't close-minded, they just don't understand. Everyone has a different way of facing their fear of something they don't understand. That's just how human are.

My point here is that instead of enhancing the hate built by the media through their portrayal of Islam, help the non-Muslims understand what Islam actually is. Be the Muslim that is expected of Islam. As cliche as it seems, you can actually make a difference.
